Scooter

The scooters are a group of sentient, human-sized water striders that live in nests on the Isle of Grownde. Scooters are incredibly short-lived, with most individuals rarely surviving past their first month. However, they make up for this by a sort of genetic knowledge passed on their their eggs when they are born. This has enabled them to develop complex technologies and build impressive structures, as well as a strong culture.

The scooters originally worshipped five gods that dwelt in the depths of the ocean. These gods would provide for them on the sea, but when the scooters ventured inland, the gods became angry and abandoned them. The scooters declared themselves apostates and developed a new culture around the desecration of what was once holy.
